Novel panel system for concrete masonry walls

چکیده

Masonry is one of the oldest materials that humans use for construction. It durable, as seen on ancient structures built thousands years ago, yet still in excellent shape. Recently, masonry walls have struggled to be competitive among other construction such precast concrete, tilt-up walls, timber, etc. This mainly due practices and lack a standardized modular system prevents offsite In this paper, new methods concrete are proposed. These based building partially grouted panels can onsite or offsite, then transported assembled site. The commonly restrained unbonded post-tensioned (UPT) threaded bar join panels. A full-scale experimental program campaign at University Alberta (UOA) currently undergoing test proposed methods. Numerical models were developed before investigation assess behaviour techniques under out-of-plane loading. Bare joints, connecting reinforcement, grouting joints three types panel connections here. influences magnitude prestressing lateral restraints stiffness also studied. results show approaches comparable traditionally constructed with improved serviceability. Also, because relative ease post-cracking behaviour, reinforcement preferred method. Whereas increasing level enhances service conditions but leads premature failure. high stiffness, grout steel, essential enhance behaviour.

Homogenization of Interlocking Masonry Walls

In a previous publication the authors proposed a continuous model for describing the mechanical behaviour of ‘Running Bond’ masonry walls. Here a different masonry structure is considered. This structure is ‘bi-atomic’ in the sense that its pattern consists in two kind of blocks with different. The homogenization by differential expansions technique is used for obtaining an equivalent Cosserat ...

Seismic Performance of Reinforced Concrete Frames Infilled by Masonry Walls with Different Heights

This study carried out comparative seismic performance of reinforced concrete frames infilled by masonry walls with different heights. Partial and fully infilled reinforced concrete frames were modeled for the research objectives and the analysis model for a bare reinforced concrete frame was also established for comparison. Non–linear static analyses for the studied frames were performed to in...

Resistance of Concrete Masonry Walls with Membrane Catcher Systems Subjected to Blast Loading

This paper describes a methodology for analyzing the impulse pressure response of unreinforced concrete masonry walls that have been retrofitted with membranes that are not bonded to the masonry (catcher systems). Membrane catcher systems can be used to protect building occupants from secondary debris resulting from blast pressure, and the effectiveness of systems comprising polymers, composite...

Effect of Unreinforced Masonry Infill Walls on Seismic Performance of Reinforced Concrete Framed Structures

Unreinforced Masonry infill walls (URM) are commonly used in the Reinforced Concrete (RC) framed structures as interiors and exteriors partition walls. Although they usually are not considered in the structural analysis and design, their influence on the seismic performance of the framed structures is significant. A common practice in the modern and old RC buildings is to remove the URM walls i...

Multi-scale analysis of masonry walls

Masonry is a heterogeneous structural material which exhibits a complex behaviour with potential cracking in each of its phases. Its structure (geometrical arrangement of mortar joints, quasi-brittle constituents) causes the appearance of complex composite failure modes with loading path dependence and strong damage-induced anisotropy effects. Large scale computations for masonry structures req...
